VCPI's Bill Lang, CBCP, CBCV, MBCI, VCPI’s Business Continuity Program Manager, will be presenting at NDLTCA on April 29, 2010.
Lang is scheduled conduct three 90 minute educational presentations discussing Business Continuity Management (BCM), disaster communication technology, and keeping data safe during disasters. All these presentations are geared towards both the corporate and facility sides of long term care and are the cornerstones of a business surviving a disaster.
In BCM, Emergency Management has been tasked by Department of Homeland Security to engage businesses about their disaster planning. These plans are mainly from a life safety viewpoint and maybe lacking critical business planning components. This session will describe BCM, why it is important, and the ten components contained in a good BCM program. When discussing disaster communication technology, disasters over the past decade have brought to light weaknesses in communicating over distance in a disaster. Lang discusses the options available and provides a method for selecting the best option for an area. With regards to vital resident data, Lang will discuss the options in technology and techniques for keeping data required for resident care safe and accessible during disasters.
The NDLTCA is the only LTC association in North Dakota and the Annual conference at Ramkota Hotel & Civic Center in Bismarck is attended by 140 LTC providers with an estimated 800 attendees.
